Measuring the size of the nipple can be started from the late stages of pregnancy, around 7-9 months. You can use a ruler or a measuring tape to measure the nipple directly. The measurement should not include the areola. You can measure in millimeters and refer to a chart to choose a breast shield size that fits the nipple size. Selecting the right breast shield size is crucial as it will allow for effective milk expression, ensuring a sufficient quantity of milk is pumped, and preventing nipple discomfort.

Wash and sterilize twice a day, in the morning and evening, if your baby is strong and healthy. However, if your baby is prone to illness, was born prematurely, or isn’t feeling well, it is recommended to wash and sterilize after every use. During the day, when it’s not yet time for pumping, store the equipment in a superlock box or a clean cover bag to prevent contamination. Afterward, keep the pumping equipment in the refrigerator.

  1. It is recommended to replace silicone parts and milk bottles every 4-6 months.
  2. As for hard plastic components, it is advised to replace them every 8-12 months.
  3. This is because wear and tear from usage and sterilization can affect the pumping efficiency.
  1. 1.Begin by Stimulation mode for 2-3 minutes until you feel the milk start to surge and the nipples become erect. Then, switch to the breast pumping mode. (In this mode, the suction rhythm is fast and short to initiate milk flow. Get ready to transition to the pumping mode.)

  2. Expression mode for 15-20 minutes, or when the milk flow slows down, switch to the breast compression mode. (In this mode, the suction is long to maximize milk storage for your little one.)

  3. Anti-Blockage RME mode for approximately 5-10 minutes before stopping the pump. (This mode involves short pulls twice and long pulls twice to extract the remaining milk until the breasts feel empty.)

  4. The special mode designed for Brusta is Blockage-break EMR mode (it can be used as a substitute for the Expression mode). This mode aids in dissolving blockages. It’s especially suitable for mothers who indulge in fried, oily, or sugary treats frequently. This mode works wonders. (The rhythm involves short pulls four times and long pulls twice, and it’s highly effective in clearing blockages.)

It’s important to ensure proper and complete nutrition, drink plenty of water, get enough rest, consume foods that stimulate milk production, and start pumping your breasts to stimulate milk flow. Use the pump every 2-3 hours, both during the day and at night.

Pumping breast milk at night, particularly between 2-3 a.m., is crucial as hormone levels peak during this time. Each pumping session should last 20 minutes, during which you can engage in activities that bring you joy.

Keep in mind that the time it takes to initiate milk flow can range from 2-3 days to as long as 2-3 weeks. This depends on your body’s readiness and the duration of breastfeeding cessation. If breastfeeding has been stopped for an extended period, it may take longer.
